Van den Hombergh, Pieter
WHIG and NVTG, the Netherlands
 Pieter van den Hombergh (1950) has been a General Practitioner (GP) all his professional life. In 2002 he became a full time policy advisor of the Dutch Association of General Practitioners (LHV). He also is part time senior research assistant of IQhealthcare in Nijmegen, an institute in quality of care research.
As a tropical doctor he worked for three years (1980-84) in a District Hospital in Kenya. After that he settled as a GP in Almere, but was also involved in CME, Research and Teaching. In 1998 he did a PhD on practice visits as a way to improve practice management.
In 2009 he became chairman of the Dutch Society of Tropical Medicine and International Health after chairing the WHIG (Working group for FM and IH) for 12years. He also chairs The support committee for the FM training in Moi University in Eldoret, Kenya.
He is married and has two children
