 Esther Jurgens (1964) is a medical sociologist, who obtained her degree at the Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands. Besides a Master’s degree in medical sociology, she had additional training in research, programme management and planning. Her professional career started with UNICEF in Latin America, after which she pursued her career working in the health care sector in the Netherlands and in developing countries. Esther Jurgens combines her work as a policy officer for the Netherlands Society for Tropical Medicine and International Health (NVTG) with consultancy work in international health. Her specific focus is on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), adolescents, women’s and child health and gender issues.
